FAQ's

  Q: How much will it cost to just bring my computer in?

  A: We do not charge an "at the door," or diagnosis fee on top of our services. When you bring in your computer, we will provide a detailed report and explanation of what needs to be done free of charge. 

  Q: How much is your service, and how will I be charged?

  A: Our in-store labor is capped at $49.95 for repair services. Any parts needed for a repair can be purchased new or used in store for your convenience. Also, any simple repair(1 hour or less), part replacement, or installation will be $24.95. We truly focus on quality and affordability, so that you can feel comfortable even during the most stressful computer situations.

  Q: How long will a typical repair take? I'm afraid to part with my computer because of how much I use and need it.

  A: As long as your computer is brought in before 2PM, we will be able to diagnose and, most likely, repair your system the same day. Even if we're backed up, we have trained and certified technicians who can travel from store to store to complete a work request if needed. Our technicians have a vast amount of experience, and are trained to ask the right questions in order to expedite your repair.

  Q: Do you travel for On-Site repairs?

  A: Yes, but there is a fee starting at $15.

  Q: We purchased a computer from a friend, but now Windows says it's not genuine. Will you still perform service on my system?

  A: Yes, we are only mildly limited to what we can do for you. Please be aware that there are many alternatives to solving this situation without losing your computer or your data. There is also software like Windows that offers free licensing called Linux if purchase is not an option.

  Q: Do I need to back up my system before repair.

  A: It is most definitely recommended in order to shorten the time needed to fix your system, but it is not required. In fact, Spec Tec Computers will provide a back up to you for only $14.95, but please be ready to describe the data that you need.

  Q: My hard drive crashed, and I was told that there is no way to retrieve my data unless I am willing to spend $400 for a professional data recovery center. Is there anything I can do besides this?

  A: Yes. In fact, Spec Tec Computers has helped local authors and doctors retrieve data from their hard drives in the most stressful situations. Just because a Hard Drive has stopped functioning, doesn't mean those 1's and 0's are going to change too much. We are confident and experienced when it comes to data recovery. In the worst case scenario, we can swap platters as long as we can get our hands on a duplicate drive. Please let us help in the hopes that we can save you or your business a pricey fix.
